Functions common to different types of geometry

Coordinate conversion

Tool for converting X and Y coordinate values in input geometry. Mostly used to repair geometry in cases where longitude and latitude values have been accidentally inverted.

Buffer

A tool that allows you to create a polygon layer that is a buffer for the source layer. The buffer is generated based on a user-set value in a selected distance unit.

To use the tool, you need to start editing on the layer in which the object you are interested in is located. Then select it and by selecting the appropriate icon use the “Buffer” tool. Then enter the name of the newly created layer in which the buffer will be created, as well as the buffer radius and the distance unit in which the radius is given. After entering the data and confirming it, a layer will be created in which the buffer will be placed.

Extract the nodes

Narzędzie generujące warstwę punktową na podstawie wierzchołków źródłowej warstwy.

To use the tool, you need to start editing on the layer in which the object you are interested in is located. Then select it and by selecting the appropriate icon use the “Extract nodes” tool. Then choose a name for the newly created point layer. After confirming the name, a point layer is created in which the objects will reflect where the vertices of the source object existed.

Group objects

A tool that allows you to change a layer with multipart geometries to a new layer whose geometries are one-piece.

To use the tool, start editing on the layer in which the multipart object of interest is located. Then select it and by selecting the appropriate icon use the “Explode geometry” tool. As soon as you use the tool, single-part features are created in the source layer, mirroring the features of the source multi-part feature.

Explode geometry

A tool that allows you to change a layer with multipart geometries to a new layer whose geometries are one-piece.

To use the tool, start editing on the layer in which the multipart object of interest is located. Then select it and by selecting the appropriate icon use the “Explode geometry” tool. As soon as you use the tool, single-part features are created in the source layer, mirroring the features of the source multi-part feature.

Show range

A tool that creates a polygon layer based on the extent of selected objects on the source layer.

To use the tool, go to “PostGIS Operations” and select “Show Scope” from the list of tools and select the objects on the basis of which the operation is to be performed.

The longest distance

A tool that creates a line layer representing the longest distance between two objects.

To use the tool, go to “PostGIS Operations” and select “Longest Reach” from the list of tools and select the objects on the basis of which the operation is to be performed.

The shortest distance

A tool that creates a line layer representing the shortest distance between two objects.

To use the tool, go to “PostGIS Operations” and select “Shortest Range” from the list of tools and select the objects on the basis of which the operation is to be performed.

Center of gravity

A tool that allows you to show the center of gravity of a selected object.

To use the tool, go to “PostGIS Operations” and select “Center of gravity” from the list of tools and select the objects on the basis of which the operation is to be performed.

Describe with a circle

A tool that allows you to create a layer with a circle described on the selected source layer object.

To use the tool, go to “PostGIS Operations” and select “Annotate with circle” from the list of tools and select the objects on the basis of which the operation is to be performed.

Convexity

A tool that allows you to create a layer with a polygon described on an indicated source layer object.

To use the tool, go to “PostGIS Operations” and select “Convex” from the list of tools and select

obiekty na podstawie których ma zostać przeprowadzona operacja.

Line on traverse (holes)

(polygon and linear geometry)

A tool that allows you to create a polygon layer from a linear source layer, taking into account the gaps between them.

To use the tool, go to “PostGIS Operations” and select “Line for polygon (holes)” from the list of tools and select the objects on the basis of which the operation is to be performed.
